Short URLs
Branded, trackable short links with analytics, social previews, and custom tracking fields.
A short URL is a branded link you create in Nexus ERP that redirects to a longer URL. Every visit is tracked: country, referrer, UTM parameters, plus any custom fields you define.
Creating a short URL
- Open Marketing, Short URLs.
- Click New Short URL (top-right).
- Fill in:
- Slug (required). Letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores only,
up to 100 characters. Example:
summer-sale. - Domain. Defaults to your app domain. If you have a verified URL domain (see below), pick it from the dropdown. The full URL preview updates as you type.
- Destination URL (required). The long URL the short link redirects to. Must be a valid URL.
- Slug (required). Letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores only,
up to 100 characters. Example:
- Open the Open Graph tab to set the preview shown when someone shares
your link in Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc:
- Title (max 200 characters).
- Description (max 500 characters).
- OG Image. Upload via Cloudinary, recommended 1200x630.
- Open the Twitter / X tab if you want a different preview there:
- Card Type. Large image or summary.
- Title, Description, Image, Site handle, Creator handle. All optional, fall back to the Open Graph values.
- Open the Custom Fields tab to define your own tracking parameters:
- Click Add Field, set a Key (the URL query parameter name) and a Label (how it shows up in analytics).
- Add as many as you need. Visitors who hit the link with
?yourkey=valuewill have that value recorded against their visit.
- Click Create Short URL.
Using the link
Copy the short URL from the list (the icon next to the slug copies it). Drop it in your email, SMS, social post, QR code, anywhere.
Viewing analytics
Click the bar-chart icon on any short URL row, or open the URL detail page. You'll see:
- Stat cards: Total Visits (all time), Unique Visitors (distinct IP + user-agent pairs, more accurate than IP alone behind shared NAT), Top Country, Top Referrer.
- Timeframe buttons: 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 1 year. Charts and tables filter to the selected window.
- Visits chart: bar chart showing daily traffic.
- Top Countries and Top Referrers tables.
- UTM Sources table: all
utm_sourcevalues seen, with counts. - Custom Field Data: the most recent 20 visits with the values you captured for each custom field.
Visit data is retained indefinitely.
Editing or pausing a short URL
On the detail page:
- Edit opens the same form as creation. Change anything except the slug / domain combination (uniqueness rules apply).
- Activate / Deactivate toggles whether the link is live. Deactivated links return a "disabled" page; analytics stay visible.
Deleting a short URL
Open the row in the list, click the menu, choose Delete. The link stops working immediately and the analytics history is removed.
