Create a project
Set up a project to scope work for a client and track tasks against it.
A project is a piece of work you're delivering, usually for a specific client. Projects act as a container: tasks, files, and (optionally) invoices tag against the project so you can see everything in one place.
Creating a project
- Open CRM → Projects.
- Click New Project (top-right).
- Fill in:
- Name, required.
- Description, optional, but a paragraph here helps the team understand scope.
- Client, optional. Linking to a client lets you see the project under that client's Projects tab.
- Status, start with ACTIVE.
- Start date / End date, optional.
- Rewards budget, optional. If you use the rewards system to track effort, this caps how much can be allocated across all the project's tasks.
- Members, pick the people working on it. They'll get access to the project even if their role doesn't include "View All Projects".
- Click Create Project.
Project statuses
| Status | Use it when |
|---|---|
| ACTIVE | Work is in progress. |
| ON_HOLD | Paused but not cancelled. |
| COMPLETED | Delivered, no more work. |
| CANCELLED | Stopped before delivery. |
You can move between statuses freely, there's no enforced lifecycle.
Editing or closing a project
On the project's detail page click Edit to change any field. To close out the project, change status to COMPLETED (or CANCELLED if it fell through).
Permissions you'll need
- Manage Projects to create, edit, or delete.
- View All Projects to see projects you didn't create and aren't a member of. Without it you can still see projects you created or were added to.
Tasks live inside projects
Once you've created a project, the next step is usually creating tasks and assigning them to your team.
