Create a project

Set up a project to scope work for a client and track tasks against it.

A project is a piece of work you're delivering, usually for a specific client. Projects act as a container: tasks, files, and (optionally) invoices tag against the project so you can see everything in one place.

Creating a project

  1. Open CRM → Projects.
  2. Click New Project (top-right).
  3. Fill in:
    • Name, required.
    • Description, optional, but a paragraph here helps the team understand scope.
    • Client, optional. Linking to a client lets you see the project under that client's Projects tab.
    • Status, start with ACTIVE.
    • Start date / End date, optional.
    • Rewards budget, optional. If you use the rewards system to track effort, this caps how much can be allocated across all the project's tasks.
    • Members, pick the people working on it. They'll get access to the project even if their role doesn't include "View All Projects".
  4. Click Create Project.

Project statuses

StatusUse it when
ACTIVEWork is in progress.
ON_HOLDPaused but not cancelled.
COMPLETEDDelivered, no more work.
CANCELLEDStopped before delivery.

You can move between statuses freely, there's no enforced lifecycle.

Editing or closing a project

On the project's detail page click Edit to change any field. To close out the project, change status to COMPLETED (or CANCELLED if it fell through).

Permissions you'll need

  • Manage Projects to create, edit, or delete.
  • View All Projects to see projects you didn't create and aren't a member of. Without it you can still see projects you created or were added to.
Tasks live inside projects

Once you've created a project, the next step is usually creating tasks and assigning them to your team.
